I built this dual power supply back in 1978, probably my first personal electronics project whilst studying Electronics & Computer Engineering at university. It came from an article in Practical Wireless magazine (April 1977) which cost just 40p at the time!
The LM723 was the bee’s knees voltage regulator back in 1977, with the 2N3055 the power transistor of the day. Although the LM723 is still available, it looks like you would probably use a LM317 or the high current version LM350 regulator today which would not even need the power transistor.
This power supply is still going today!
